Lottoland Deutschland, a prominent entity under the Lottoland Group’s umbrella, has achieved a significant milestone in the German online gaming industry. The company has successfully obtained a German licence from the nation’s lottery brokerage, marking a pivotal moment in its operations within the country’s regulatory framework.
This licensure places Lottoland Deutschland on the whitelist of companies authorized to distribute online state-licensed lottery games as a broker. The Joint Gambling Authority of the German federal states (GGL) has recognized Lottoland Deutschland’s compliance with the necessary regulations, allowing it to offer these services to German players.
While celebrating the German licence approval, Lottoland Deutschland also anticipates receiving additional licences. These forthcoming licences will enable the company to broaden its offerings to include online sports betting and slot machine games, further diversifying its portfolio and catering to varied player preferences.
Magnus von Zitzewitz, the Managing Director of Lottoland Deutschland, expressed delight at the approval of their license application. He acknowledged the rigorous examination process conducted by the federal states and emphasized the company’s commitment to operating in compliance with German gaming regulations.
The news of Lottoland Deutschland’s licence approval comes amidst past challenges, including calls from the GGL to block access to Lottoland Group websites in Germany. In October, the authority urged payment providers to cease cooperation with Lottoland, highlighting the dynamic regulatory landscape in the German gaming sector.
Lottoland’s global operations offer insights into various gaming landscapes and regulatory environments. In Ireland, a survey conducted by Ireland Thinks on behalf of Lottoland in November revealed strong opposition (75%) to the proposed Gambling Regulation Bill 2022, showcasing public sentiment towards gambling regulations.
Beyond regulatory developments, Lottoland has made strides in expanding its offerings and forming strategic partnerships. In early 2022, the company received a non-exclusive keno licence from the Victoria State Government in Australia, demonstrating its commitment to operating in diverse jurisdictions.
A notable recent development is Lottoland’s partnership with HabitRewire, offering iGaming wellbeing tools and resources to company staff. This initiative reflects Lottoland’s dedication to promoting employee wellbeing and fostering a positive work environment.
As Lottoland Deutschland embraces its new chapter with the German licence, the company is poised to contribute significantly to the German online gaming landscape. With a diverse range of offerings and a commitment to regulatory compliance, Lottoland continues to navigate challenges and seize opportunities in the ever-evolving gaming industry.
